As many as 50 East Javanese classical batik 30-200 years old on display in the Gallery of Art “House of Sampoerna” Surabaya on 24 September to 10 October 2010, in order to welcome the Batik Day.
“We work with` Kibas `(Community Batik Surabaya) brighten Batik Day on 2 October with a series of events,” said Museum Manager `House of Sampoerna` Rani Anggraini in Surabaya, on Friday.
Accompanied by his staff, Diah, he said the event was welcomed Day Batik include classical batik exhibition (September 24 to October 10), discussion batik (2 October), and training in batik with canting electrically (9 October).“Every year, we almost always exhibit batik batik to support the preservation of cultural heritage as a nation, especially to young people who might not know about the form of classical batik that,” he said.
In the exhibition, which presented classical batik originated from Sidoarjo, Tulungagung, Tuban, and Madura.
Dozens of batik on display was a collection of batik lovers, artisans, officials, and former officers with a minimum age of 30 years to 200 years.
For example, classical batik is 200 years old “Batik Kraton” from Sumenep (Madura), which is a collection of Erwin Sosrokusumo.
For the 100-year-old batik “Batik Isuk Sore” from Sidoarjo.
Separately, Chairman Kibas Tulistyantoro Lintu says bantik classic batik is ever popular at a time and represent a “style” of certain regions.
“But, classical batik is now no longer growing. Batik classic is known for batik courts of Solo and Yogyakarta, but many non-classical batik palace like Batik Classic East Java,” he explained.
Petra Christian University Lecturer (UKP) Surabaya was added, classical batik from Java who has had a heyday among others from Madura, Tuban, Tulungagung, Sidoarjo, Terri, and so forth.
“With a batik exhibition this time, it is expected the public would be more familiar with the potential richness of batik in Java, so they will better appreciate,” said Ina of `House of Sampoerna` on the sidelines of the exhibition.
